I was just thinking. Ever heard of the cliche line "Money can't buy you happiness"? Well, it can. Money can buy you happiness, but it can't buy you joy.
The difference is: happiness is external but joy is internal. What makes people happy, usually comes from external sources, like material things or when your fiance asks for your hand in marriage and gives you a ring and bouquet of roses. It's the same with money; money is external, it is of the world.
Unlike happiness, joy comes from within. Joy is being with a loved one. Joy is being away from a loved one, but believing that God is watching over him/her and that he/she is okay. Joy is facing a trial or difficulty, but still being able to praise God and be content, because you believe that things will be all right. Joy is being able to help someone, even if you may need some help yourself. Joy is from the inside out. Money cannot buy such things.
Money can buy you happiness, but it can't buy you joy.
The joy of the Lord is my strength.
